Great Granddaughter of President Eisenhower Exposes UFO Spy Game

Eisenhower, has been promoting an outlandish claim about a super-secret private effort to build a permanent outpost on Mars.

(STARpod.org) -- The great-granddaughter of President Eisenhower is alleging an attempted recruitment by persons known for their association with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Although the story was initially dismissed due to the outlandish claims and further embellishment cloaked in new age concepts, background research on file at STARstream Research, dating to 2006 appears to confirm at least some of the more down-to-earth details provided by Ms. Eisenhower.

In the web posting of her account of events, Ms. Eisenhower, who has now been identified as Laura Mahon, claims that in April 2006, she had been approached by "a man who we are calling Agent X."

"Agent X" released a statement to the public, in which he identifies himself as Richard Dell, of the Advanced Vehicle Research Center of North Carolina.

According to Ms. Eisenhower, following an engagement in June of the same year, "Agent X" "started to reveal things to me about this group he goes to who are quite psychic and deal with alien abduction related things. He himself had witnessed something truly bizarre with an animal skinned, that had all the blood sucked out and that the radiation or energy around this really affected his health for a long time."

The intriguing details behind this story involve contacts with persons know to be involved in US government intelligence activities, and in the research of alternative energy and aerospace propulsion systems, including nuclear powered rockets.

Based upon Ms. Eisenhower's account, Susan Eisenhower would be her mother.

At her website, Susan Eisenhower, a key energy consultant to the US government, identifies her three children, including Laura, and mentions twin grandchildren, which is consistent with Ms. Eisenhower's account. Ms. Eisenhower mentions that she "had given birth to twin sons" in her on-line statement.

Ms. Eisenhower's associate, Ki' Lia, provided a corroborative account at her own website.

As a matter of disclosure, persons associated with STARstream Research have had contact with Mr. Dell and some of his associates, for several years.

UFO Congress convention lands in Laughlin Feb. 21

Researchers and interested humans from around planet Earth will arrive at the Colorado River border of Arizona and Nevada later this month to encounter the mysteries, theories, evidence and possible answers about UFOs.

The 19th annual International UFO Congress Convention & Film Festival will be held in Laughlin, Nevada, from Feb. 21 through Feb. 27 at the Aquarius Casino Resort.

Dozens of U.S.-based and international speakers with expertise in the field of alleged extraterrestrial visitation to Earth will give presentations throughout the week.

Topics will include perspectives on the nature of ET encounters with the human race, U.S. and international defense and intelligence activities related to ET visitation, advanced technologies linked to ET contact and a range of related elements involved in these intriguing areas of research and widespread interest.

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Donald Ware and retired Air Force Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens will be among the speakers with decades of experience investigating these kinds of topics.

Other well-known speakers will include author Richard Dolan, Mexico TV host Jaime Maussan, filmmaker David Sereda and Travis Walton whose reported abduction by ETs on Nov. 5, 1975, near Snowflake, Arizona, was the basis of the 1993 movie "Fire in the Sky."

EDUCATION, ACCLIMATION, PREPAREDNESS

Since the alleged 1947 "Roswell incident" near a U.S. Army Air Corps base in New Mexico, the U.S. government may have been concerned about the nature of UFOs and ET visitation.

When WWII allied pilots reported strange lights darting around their aircraft, these "foo fighters" might also have triggered interest by U.S. and allied defense and intelligence officials.

But, does this phenomenon go back further in history? U.S. newspaper accounts from the 1800s tell of strange "air ships" reported by apparently reliable citizens. Some researchers say the UFO mystery may have existed in ancient human history as well.

Some Native American Indians have legends of visitors from the stars.

In more recent times, an unusual cluster of UFO sightings occurred over Washington, D.C., in the summer of 1952. Eyewitnesses, photographers and radar operators reported and documented the unusual lights in the sky over the American capitol.

According to some researchers, in the post-WWII era it was determined by U.S. defense, intelligence and scientific personnel that something quite strange was indeed going on. But what?

Gathering information and developing plans accordingly were reportedly part of the response to this challenging situation. Other people and governments around the world also found themselves in the loop of the UFO phenomena.

Was Earth being visited by intelligent and advanced beings from another planet? If so, who were they and what were their intentions – friendly or hostile? And what was the technology that powered their spacecraft?

How would average people react to this scenario? Would there be mass panic in the face of potential adversaries? Or, would Earth be gradually infiltrated and conquered the way Europeans defeated the indigenous people of the Americas?

What methods could be used to educate and prepare average people for this alleged reality?

NEW UNDERSTANDING, MORE QUESTIONS

In the decades since the so-called Roswell incident, scientists have proposed theories about the interface of different dimensions in our Universe. In fact, it is now sometimes referred to as a multiverse – a place of parallel and intersecting realities.

Some theories now suggest that visitors are not only simply from faraway planets or moons, but exist in some other unique relationship to our world. They may get here through what are called wormholes, portals or star gates which provide shortcuts through time and space.

Why might these unusual visitors be interested in Earth, the human race and the diverse species of life on this planet in what we call the Milky Way galaxy?

It's unclear to most people what the agenda might be.

Defense and intelligence activities in this area have reportedly been regarded as a very high priority, and with accompanying high security. What progress has been made in this area? This, too, is a matter that has been difficult for researchers to uncover.

Have diplomatic relations been established with some of these special visitors? Have tactical and strategic alliances been formed? And what about the stories of advanced technology being obtained by Earth officials from ET visitors?

From Roswell to more recent incidents such as the March 13, 1997, "Phoenix lights" case in Arizona, there seems to have been gradually increasing awareness in the public, the media, the scientific community and within governments that something quite significant is going on.

UFO filmed in Colombia - VIDEO

The UFO footage below was sent to us by a reader. Allegedly it was uploaded to YouTube after being filmed recently in the vicinity of the town of Guatape in the South American nation of Colombia.

It shows a static spherical shaped UFO surrounded by very bright light that it appears to be emitting. Whoever shot the film has chosen to remain anonymous and little more than the above information is known regarding the video.

There are skeptics that claim this kind of UFO footage in fact depicts lens flare however UFO experts counter that little evidence exists to back up this claim as such examples of lens flare are rarely if ever found outside of alleged UFO footage.

UFO sightings are very common in Colombia. Some UFO researchers believe that this frequent UFO activity is due to Colombia's proximity to North East Brazil where allegedly a UFO highway exit is said to exist.

Nearby the town of Guatape lies the 'Guatape Rock' a highly irregular rock formation that local native tribes believe was created by being that descended from the stars. This too might well be of interest to visiting aliens.

Mass UFO sighting in France investigated and confirmed by police

Police on the Isle of Oleron off the coast of France near the city of Bordeaux have confirmed that they are investigating a mass UFO sighting that took place on New year's Eve. The authorities have interviewed at least three independent witnesses and believe that their testimonies are reliable.

The Police officer handling the initial investigation, Lieutenant Bourdajeau, noted that 'The testimonies of witnesses seem highly consistent and we can verify that this was not a hallucination: An egg shape object appeared at around 8pm, it was silent and hovered in one spot before speeding off in a westerly direction. We have informed our superiors of this event'.

One witness, Jean Louis Fesseau, joked that his friends might laugh when they find out he saw a UFO but noted he 'spent thirty five years at sea and know what a flare or a helicopter look like.' '

I know what I saw' said Mr Fesseau who happily co-operated when contacted by the police.

'A craft, all lit up in red and yellow, stayed fixed for quite a while -- about 12 seconds, before then disappearing again without a noise but at a tremendous speed' The 60-year old fisherman remarked. 'I would say the UFO was at about 600 metres from the coast and at a height of about 300 metres.'

The police will soon hand the file over to GEIPAN, France's official UFO investigative body, for further study.

Eerie outpost unnerves US Marines with strange lights and whispers in the night

The Marines found the bone as they scraped a shallow trench. Long, dry and unmistakably once part of a human leg, it was followed by others. They reburied most of them but also found bodies. Three of the graves were close together; in another was a skeleton still wearing a pair of glasses. The Marines covered the grave and told their successors to stay away from it.

Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, where a company from 2/8 Marines has been stationed for the past seven months. It is a lonely and exposed outpost 20 metres (65ft) above the surrounding landscape, which has been in Nato hands since it was captured from the Taleban in 2008.

Groups of Marines are posted to guard it, usually for a couple of months at a time, and “the Rock” has acquired a peculiar reputation. American troops widely refer to it as “the haunted Observation Point”.

It is hard to say how much the 100F (38C) heat, round-the-clock guard shifts and months spent living in trenches and peering out of sandbagged firing points have gilded the legend of OP Rock. The only break from the tedium, apart from dog-eared magazines and an improvised gym, has been small-arms or rocket-propelled grenade attacks from the Taleban, usually on a Sunday morning.

But as Sergeant Josh Brown, 22, briefed his successor when a detachment of men from Golf Company was swapped for an incoming contingent from Fox Company, he warned of the strange atmosphere and inexplicable phenomena that plagued OP Rock. “The local people say this is a cursed place,” he said. “You will definitely see weird-ass lights up here at night.”

Others in the outgoing unit had reported odd sounds. “It is weird what you hear and don’t hear around here,” he added.

Each successive detachment that guards the Rock appears to add its own layer to the legend, which has spread through the Marine units pushing into southern Helmand.

There is talk of members of the Taleban entombed in caves below; the bodies buried on the summit are identified confidently as dead Russian soldiers from the ill-fated Soviet invasion.

Corporal Jacob Lima’s story is the latest addition. One night he was woken by the sound of screaming. It was Corporal Zolik, a Marine who has since been moved to a unit farther south. “He was yelling and begging me to go up to the firing point he was guarding,” Corporal Lima, 22, told the men taking over from him. “When I got there he said that he was sitting there when he heard a voice whisper something in his ear. He said it sounded like Russian. He begged me to stay in there with him till he was relieved from guard duty. After that he really didn’t like standing post up there.”

The Marines’ predecessors, a unit of Welsh Guards, also produced tales of the unexpected. “The Brits claimed to see weird things, hear noises,” Corporal Lima said. “Lots of them said it’s creepy at night, especially from midnight till 4am. You see a lot of unexplained lights through night-vision goggles.”

Its elevation has clearly made the Rock a natural defensive position for centuries. It is not a rock, though it resembles one. Medieval arrow slits and the remains of fortified turrets on its eastern flank show that this was once a large mud fort that collapsed in on itself and was probably built upon in turn. The locals say that it dates back to Alexander the Great, and another similar structure is visible in the distance to the south, part of a supposed line of such forts built at some point in Afghanistan’s history of invasion and war.

When US Marines seized the post last summer they dropped a 2,000lb (900kg) bomb on one side, collapsing part of the structure on to what its current occupants claim was a cave where Taleban fighters were sheltering.

“This place really sucks,” said Lance Corporal Austin Hoyt, 20, putting his pack on to return to the main base. “The Afghans say it’s haunted. Stick a shovel in anywhere and you’ll find bones and bits of pottery. This place should be in National Geographic — in the front there are weird-looking windows for shooting arrows. You know, they say the Russians up here were executed by the Mujahidin.”

He looked meaningfully at his successors and prepared to leave.

After 50 years, UK ministry shuts down UFO unit

After more than 50 years of service, the ministry has shut down its UFO investigation unit, saying it could no longer justify the cost of running the service.

The ministry said it had found no evidence of a threat to Britain or proof of the existence of extra-terrestrials, despite the public sending thousands of reportings of UFOs to a ministry hotline and email address.

It said it held no opinion on the existence or otherwise of alien life, but added it had "no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings."

"There is no defense benefit in such investigation and it would be an inappropriate use of defense resources," it said.

Any threat to the country's air space would be spotted by radar checks and dealt with by Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft, a ministry spokesman said.

Resources would be focused on more important priorities, including the war in Afghanistan, where Britain has 9,000 troops fighting Taliban insurgents, as part of NATO forces, he added.

The dedicated UFO officer who dealt with the reports has been re-assigned to another post, saving 44,000 pounds ($73,000) a year.

Bermuda Triangle plane mystery 'solved'

Two of the so-called Bermuda Triangle's most mysterious disappearances in the late 1940s may have been solved.

Scores of ships and planes are said to have vanished without trace over the decades in a vast triangular area of ocean with imaginary points in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico.

But journalist Tom Mangold's new examination for the BBC provides plausible explanations for the disappearance of two British commercial planes in the area, with the loss of 51 passengers and crew.

One plane probably suffered from catastrophic technical failure as a result of poor design, while the other is likely to have run out of fuel.

Sixty years ago, commercial flights from London to Bermuda were new and perilous. It would require a refuelling stop on the Azores before the 2,000-mile flight to Bermuda, which at that time was the longest non-stop commercial overseas flight in the world.

The planes would have been operating at the limit of their range. Today planes arriving at the tiny Atlantic island have sufficient reserve fuel to divert to the US East Coast 700 miles away, in case of emergency.

And the planes of the post-war era were far less reliable than today's airliners.

British South American Airways (BSAA), which operated the route, had a grim safety record. In three years it had had 11 serious accidents and lost five planes with 73 passengers and 22 crew members killed.

Unsolved mystery

On 30 January 1948, a BSAA Avro Tudor IV plane disappeared without trace. Twenty-five passengers and a crew of six were on board The Star Tiger. No bodies or wreckage were found.

The official investigation into the disappearance concluded: "It may truly be said that no more baffling problem has ever been presented.

"What happened in this case will never be known and the fate of Star Tiger must remain an unsolved mystery."

But there are a number of clues in the official accident report that reveal the Star Tiger had encountered problems before it reached the Azores.

The aircraft's heater was notoriously unreliable and had failed en route, and one of the compasses was found to be faulty.

Probably to keep the plane warmer, the pilot had decided to fly the whole transatlantic route very low, at 2,000 feet, burning fuel at a faster rate.

On approaching Bermuda, Star Tiger was a little off course and had been flying an hour later than planned.

In addition, the official Ministry of Civil Aviation report considered that the headwinds faced by Star Tiger may have been much stronger than those forecast. This would have caused the fuel to burn more quickly.

"Flying at 2,000 feet they would have used up much more fuel," said Eric Newton, one of the Ministry of Civil Aviation's most senior air accident investigators, who reviewed the scenario for the BBC.

"At 2,000 feet you'd be leaving very little altitude for manoeuvre. In any serious in-flight emergency they could have lost their height in seconds and gone into the sea."

Whatever happened to the plane, it was sudden and catastrophic - there was no time to send an emergency signal.

The Avro Tudor IV was a converted warplane that was eventually taken out of passenger service because of its poor safety record. Only BSAA continued to fly the aircraft.

Gordon Store was chief pilot and manager of operations at BSAA. In an interview with his local newspaper last November, he said he had no confidence in the Tudor's engines.

"Its systems were hopeless… all the hydraulics, the air-conditioning equipment and the recycling fans were crammed together underneath the floor without any thought. There were fuel-burning heaters that would never work," he said.

Second accident

Almost a year to the day after the disappearance of the Star Tiger, another Avro Tudor IV belonging to BSAA vanished between Bermuda and Jamaica.

Exactly one hour after departure from Bermuda on 17 January 1949, the pilot of the Star Ariel sent a routine communication of his position. But then the plane vanished without trace at 18,000 feet.

According to experts, this would have required a sudden catastrophe.

Again, no wreckage, debris or bodies were ever found.

Fuel starvation at that height was not plausible, the weather report had been good, and pilot error was ruled out.

The plane's poor design may well have been to blame, according to Don Mackintosh, a former BSAA Tudor IV pilot. The cabin heater mounted underneath the floor where the co-pilot sat is his prime suspect.

At the time, aircraft heater technology was still in its infancy.

"The heater bled aviation fuel on to a hot tube - and was also fairly close to the hydraulic pipes," he says.

A pressure switch should have allowed the heater to operate when it was in the air but it was unreliable and was often deliberately short-circuited by staff, allowing the pilot manual control.

The switch prevented inflammable fuel from flowing, but if the heater was switched on manually, gas that may have collected could have ignited.

Captain Peter Duffey, a former BSAA pilot who went on to become a captain of British Airways Concorde, also believes that the proximity of the heater and the hydraulic pipes was significant.

"My theory is that hydraulic vapour escaped from a leak, which got on to a hot heater and caused an explosion," he says.

Mr Newton's report came to a similar conclusion: "If the heater had caught fire down below the floorboards then it could have developed to a catastrophic state before the crew knew anything about it.

"There was no automatic fire extinguisher to put it out like there is nowadays. There was no alarm where the heater was stored… so no-one would know, possibly until it was too late."

The official accident investigation discovered that because of a communications error, search and rescue teams were not despatched until seven and a half hours later.

By then what was left of the plane and the bodies would have sunk.

The report on the disappearance of the first plane, the Star Tiger, said something which, because it could be easily misinterpreted, helped the accident achieve notoriety.

In a moment of philosophical conjecture, the investigators mused that maybe "some external cause may (have) overwhelm(ed) both man and machine".

Those comments from sober-suited British civil servants opened the floodgates for conspiracy theorists, hack journalists and mischief makers, adding to the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.

Pennsylvania Man Fires Cannon, Hits Neighbor's House

A Pennsylvania history buff who recreates firearms from old wars accidentally fired a 2-pound cannonball through the wall of his neighbor's home. William Maser, 54, fired a cannonball Wednesday evening outside his home in Georges Township that ricocheted and hit a house 400 yards away. The cannonball, about two inches in diameter, smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet. Authorities said nobody was hurt.

State police charged Maser with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

No one answered the phone Friday at Maser's home. He told WPXI-TV recreating 19th century cannons is a longtime hobby. He said he is sorry and he will stop shooting them on his property, about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Town holds first 'out of this world' UFO fest

They came in peace — and had the T-shirts to prove it.

"Believe."

"Aliens rule."

"X-Files."

"Roswell."

"Pine Bush, N.Y."

"We come in peace."

Plus, of course, the official Exeter UFO Festival shirt — a popular buy during the inaugural event — with a little green man celebrating Exeter's "out-of-this-world community."

If a UFO decided to hover over downtown Exeter on Saturday it would've found a welcoming crowd.

Among the hundreds of visitors to the free all-day fest were adults with glittery tinfoil headbands, kids with painted alien faces and at least two full-bodied green and red monsters in the forms of Bryn Richards, 8, and Molly Warriner, 10, both of Exeter.

"We wanted to be with our own kind," Warriner said, deadpan. "We've gotten a lot of stares."

"It's been fun," said Richards.

Richards' aunt, Michelle Popplewell, timed her visit from Minnesota for this first UFO event.

"I think it's wonderful how people can talk about it comfortably in a safe environment," Popplewell said.

She, her sister Andrea Richards and the two monsters joined the others who packed Town Hall for Kathleen Marden's lecture on her book, "Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience."

"I liked the first-hand experience she had with her aunt," Popplewell said of Marden, who is the niece of famed New Hampshire UFO abductee Betty Hill.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, Peter Geremia spoke about the Sept. 3, 1965, "Incident at Exeter" that put the region on the map as the "East Coast Roswell."

Over at Founders Park, children transformed flat rocks into spaceships, were read stories from books such as "Commander Toad and the Space Pirates" and "Easy-To-Make Spaceships That Really Fly" and created their own UFOs out of recycled material strewn about the park.

Thomas Muscarello, 8, of Exeter, is the nephew of Norman Muscarello, who was a teenager back in 1965 when his story became part of the "Incident at Exeter."

Thomas' mother, Bonnie, said the boy and his father go outside all the time looking for UFOs.

On Saturday, Thomas used coffee canisters, two soda cans, tinfoil, duct tape and a cookie cutter to create his own spaceship from "Planet X," which "landed" next to a much larger spaceship created by a team of kids and adults.

He had only been there an hour, but so far Thomas was enjoying the festival.

"Probably I would want to go to another one," he said.

Rita Podalsky of Kensington, one of the festival volunteers, said she became involved when organizer Dean Merchant of Stratham asked her if she believed in UFOs.

Not only does she believe, she said, she and her husband and daughter had a sighting 25-30 years ago at their own home.

That home on Osgood Road, part of "UFO Alley," was marked on maps handed out at the festival for self-guided UFO safari tours.

And on Saturday Podalsky wore an official festival T-shirt while helping to put together children's event supplies at Founders Park.

"I think it's incredible," she said. "The kids seem to be having a really fun time. I hope it takes off like the Keene Pumpkin Festival as a yearly thing."

About a dozen kids and adults marched in a parade from the park to Town Hall, following sidewalks filled with chalk drawings of spaceships and aliens.

Sharon Taylor of the Weeks Public Library in Greenland led the parade down Water Street, singing about galaxies and calling "live long and prosper" to bemused sidewalk patrons.

Kitty Mervine of Antrim, N.H., walked behind the children in the parade. She runs a site called BadAlien.org to help people who believe they've been abducted by aliens.

"Abduction went from nice to bad right here in New Hampshire," Mervine said.

Before Betty and Barney Hill, she said, aliens were nice and friendly. After the Hills reported their sighting it was the start of the "grays," Mervine said, with the media, books and Hollywood leading people to see aliens as frightening.

In terms of this first UFO Festival, Mervine said the lectures seemed well attended, but she was disappointed in the other events, with a lot of "silly" mixed with the serious.

Provident Bank didn't seem to mind getting silly.

Next to Town Hall, a sign outside the bank offered "intergalactic exchange rates with U.S. dollars," with 1 "Quid" equalling $12.50.

Inside the hall, fans crowded around the Water Street Bookstore table to buy or order UFO books, plus check out the UFO drawings designed by local children, with sales proceeds going to the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce's Children's Fund.

By the bandstand, the Kiwanis Club of Exeter was selling food, and a New England UFO Research (NEUFOR) van was parked with silver star-shaped balloons on the roof.

Joe Cambria of NEUFOR said once the group heard about this free first event they decided to offer support, not knowing how it would be.

"It's going absolutely fantastic," Cambria said early Saturday afternoon. "It's been beyond our expectations. We've given out almost all of our printed material. The experiences and stories people are sharing with us have made it all worthwhile. We really hope they do this next year."

Jason Miller and Henrik Strand, both 14, of Exeter, approached Cambria to discuss collaborating with a new group they are forming, called Center for Extraterrestrial Research and Analyzation (CETRA).

The teens share an interest in UFOs and said they've experienced phenomena first-hand.

Miller, who wore a CETRA shirt, spoke of an occurrence just last month before a laser show in Atlanta. Strand, who is working on a CETRA Web site, spoke of unexplained patterns and footprints by his home.

"Our goal is to spread the word," Miller said. "There are too many nonbelievers. It's going to affect our future."

On Saturday, they were just happy to support the first Exeter UFO Festival.

"I think it's really good to broaden people's perspectives," Strand said.

"I think it's going to get better and better every year," Miller said. "I can't wait for next year."

Man Slaps Stranger's Kid in Wal-Mart

Imagine this for a shopping nightmare: Your 2-year-old throws a tantrum at Wal-Mart, and a strange man walks up to her and slaps her across the face to shut her up.

This happened to a Georgia mom on Monday. Sonya Mathews' daughter, Paige, was crying in the store when 61-year-old Roger Stephens told Mathews that if she didn't make her kid stop crying, he would. When little Paige continued to cry, he walked up to her and slapped her across the face several times. After he did it, he told Mathews, "See, I told you I would shut her up."

Mathews screamed at him and called for security. Another shopper stopped him. He was arrested and charged with cruelty to a child, a felony, and is being held without bail. Paige suffered no injuries, except for some redness in the face. Of course, that says nothing of the psychological injuries she might have experienced.

Frog Residue In Fred DeNegri's Pepsi Can

The "disgusting" blob that Fred DeNegri's wife says she poured out of his Diet Pepsi can was probably a gutted frog or toad, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.

DeNegri was grilling in his backyard tiki bar in Ormond Beach, Florida, when he popped open a can of Diet Pepsi, took a big gulp and started gagging, his wife, Amy, said.
He emptied out the can down a sink but something heavy remained inside. His wife took over and shook the can over a paper plate until something resembling "pink linguini" slid out, followed by "dark stuff," Amy DeNegri said.

"It was disgusting," said Amy DeNegri, 55. "And now, what started out as a normal afternoon in our tiki bar has blown up into this crazy thing."

The DeNegris took pictures before calling poison control and the FDA, which showed up the next day to examine the can in question and collect it for lab testing.

The couple received a copy of the completed report last week from the Food and Drug Administration Office of Regulatory Affairs, which concluded the foreign matter appeared to be a frog or a toad.

"The animal was lacking internal organs normally found in the abdominal and thoracic cavity," the report notes.

A second, closed can from the same 36-pack of Diet Pepsi from Sam's Club, was also submitted for testing, according to Amy DeNegri. No abnormalities were detected, the report states.

The FDA also conducted an investigation at the local Pepsi bottling plant in Orlando from August 4 to 11 and "did not find any adverse conditions or association to this problem," spokeswoman Siobhan DeLancey said.

"We have not determined when or how the contamination occurred," DeLancey said in an e-mail.

Pepsi says the FDA results "affirmed" the company's confidence "in the quality of our products and the integrity of our manufacturing system," according to spokesman Jeff Dahncke.

"The speed of our production lines and the rigor of our quality control systems make it virtually impossible for this type of thing to happen in a production environment. In fact, there never has been even a single instance when a claim of this nature has been traced back to a manufacturing issue," Dahncke said in an e-mail.

"The FDA conducted a thorough inspection of our Orlando facility and found no cause for concern. In this case, the FDA simply was unable to determine when or how the specimen entered the package."

When asked if Pepsi believed it was not responsible for the animal getting into the can, Dahncke said, "We have addressed the facts of the investigation and stated our position. It's not appropriate for us to comment beyond that."

But the DeNegris say they're hopping mad over Pepsi's handling of the matter.

Amy DeNegri said she hasn't heard from Pepsi since the day after the incident occurred, when she spoke with someone over the phone. At first, the woman was apologetic, but DeNegri says her attitude changed after she told her that the FDA had taken the can for testing.

"She asked for my pictures, I sent them and never heard back," she said.

The retired school staffer says she and her husband are seeking legal advice to examine their options.

"I want to see Pepsi fess up to it and compensate my husband for the negative publicity they have caused," she said. "I'm easy, but they're the ones that are making it hard."

Japan's New First Lady Claims to Have Been to Venus in a UFO

Japan's next prime minister might be nicknamed "the alien," but it's his wife who claims to have had a close encounter with another world.

"While my body was asleep, I think my soul rode on a triangular-shaped UFO and went to Venus," Miyuki Hatoyama, the wife of premier-in-waiting Yukio Hatoyama, wrote in a book published last year.

"It was a very beautiful place and it was really green."

Yukio Hatoyama is due to be voted in as premier on September 16 following his party's crushing election victory over the long-ruling Liberal Democratic Party Sunday.

Drunk man found at grocery store eating avocados

Police said a man was arrested at a grocery store after workers found him at a table in the deli, eating avocados, cake and other items. Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said the 38-year-old man was intoxicated and had a hearty spread, including cake, cookies and plums, in the deli area of Cashwise Foods about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Ziegler said avocado pits and pistachio shells ended up on the floor and on a connecting table in the store. He said the man told officers he had no money and had no idea how he planned to pay for the food.

Police arrested him on a misdemeanor theft charge.

Man tries to fix airbed, blows up apartment

BERLIN (Reuters) – A German who tried to fix his leaky air mattress blew up his apartment instead, the fire brigade in the western city of Duesseldorf said on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old man used tyre repair solvent to plug a hole in his airbed and left it overnight.

But it blew up when he went to inflate it the next day." A spark from the electric air pump ignited it," a fire brigade spokesman said.

The blast pushed his living room wall into the building's stairwell and caused extensive damage to walls, windows and furniture.

Fire fighters evacuated the 12-apartment building and a neighbouring housing block while they checked for structural damage.

The man suffered burns on his arms, while a three-year-old girl suffered first degree burns.

Fort Collins woman accused of sex with "Furry" teen

A 45-year-old Fort Collins mother is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy who also was part of a group that enjoys dressing up as animals.

Richael L. Michels faces sexual assault on a child charges, according to the arrest affidavit the Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper posted on its website. Her husband notified the Colorado Department of Human Services in May that his wife might be having an improper online relationship with a teen-aged boy, the affidavit says.

He also told investigators she had "recently become involved with a group known as 'Furries,' who dress up like animals and have social gatherings online and in person."

Members of the group gave statements to police after the woman's affectionate, sometimes intimate behavior with the teenager at Furries gatherings, called "furmeets."

According to the arrest affadavit, Michels is friends with the boy's mother. The boy told investigators Michels "even made a comment about the irony of (his) mom trusting her as a mentor ... and the whole time she was having sex with him."

The boy told police that he and Michels had sex several times, according to the affidavit.

Flight diverted after passenger undresses in seat

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A passenger stripped naked during a US Airways flight and resisted a flight attendant's efforts to cover him with a blanket before two off-duty law enforcement officers on board subdued and handcuffed him, authorities said Wednesday.

Keith Wright, 50, of the Bronx in New York, was taken into custody after he disrobed while sitting in his seat in the back of Flight 705 on Tuesday evening, authorities said. The plane was carrying about 148 passengers from Charlotte to Los Angeles, the airline said.

Wright was unresponsive when a flight attendant asked him to put his clothes back on, said Dan Jiron, a spokesman for the Albuquerque airport. 'She asked him on more than one occasion to put on his clothes. She covered him with a blanket and he took that off,' Jiron said.

Wright punched and kicked the flight attendant, who asked two off-duty law officers for help, according to a criminal complaint. A Los Angeles police officer and sheriff's deputy helped the flight attendant subdue and handcuff Wright before the flight landed, Jiron said.

The flight attendants also were dealing with an unrelated onboard medical emergency at the same time, which exacerbated the situation, the FBI said. The aircraft was diverted because of the medical emergency, and Wright's actions were a secondary reason for the unplanned landing, the complaint said.

Roger Finzel, an assistant federal public defender representing Wright, said he has not yet met with his client and had no information about the case other than what was in the complaint.

Wright told the FBI he is suffering from a bipolar disorder and had not taken his prescribed medication before leaving New York that morning, the criminal complaint said. Wright told the FBI he recalled nothing about the flight or his behavior, it said.

Wright had been seen dancing in a crowded boarding area before the flight, but when approached by Flight Service Supervisor Claudia Kearney, he told her he had drunk one beer. Kearney told the FBI she did not smell alcohol on him and determined he was well enough to travel, the complaint said.

US Airways spokeswoman Valerie Wunder could not confirm that Kearney worked for the airline.

Passenger Ginny Keegan of Detroit was sitting in the front of the plane, when there was commotion coming from the back. The people on the flight were notified of a violent passenger as the plane began to approach Albuquerque, but Keegan said no one was fearful.

'No one was really panicking. The flight attendants seemed to handle it very well,' she said. Keegan said the man was 'completely naked' as he was taken in handcuffs off the plane.

As the plane took off again, Keegan said the usual announcement to please fasten your seat belts came over the loudspeakers with a twist. The message included 'a reminder to everybody to please keep your clothing on. It got a couple chuckles,' Keegan said.

Wright is in federal custody on a federal charge of interfering with flight crew members and attendants. He is expected to appear in federal court in Albuquerque on Thursday."

Fla. man issued 50 traffic citations in 1 day

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Elvis has left the vehicle. A man was arrested on more than 50 traffic citations — all in one day. Police said Elvis Alonzo Barrett, 46, fled from police trying to stop him for a traffic violation Thursday morning. Police said he ran through red lights, crashed into another car and a fence. Police said they found crack cocaine and a crack pipe in his car.

Barrett faces several charges, including fleeing and eluding and reckless driving.

He was also issued more than 50 traffic citations on charges including speeding, running red lights, and not wearing a seat belt.

Police said Barrett has a lengthy criminal history and his driver license was suspended.

A phone number listed for him was not in service Thursday night.

Wakefield rapist wanted jail English lessons

A Romanian ex-convict brutally raped a young woman in Wakefield because he wanted to be sent to a British jail to learn English.

Ali Majlat, 35, attacked the 21-year-old woman as she waited on a platform at Wakefield Kirkgate station.

He raped her in an underpass before robbing her of her mobile phone, purse and a bracelet at 8.30pm on Sunday October 12 last year, Leeds Crown Court heard.

The court heard after his arrest Majlat told a psychiatrist he decided to rape the woman because he wanted to go to jail where he would be fed, housed and be taught English.

Doctors ruled Majlat is not mentally ill.

Majlat raped the woman after traveling to Wakefield to visit his brother at the city's maximum security jail.

He fled to London but was arrested days later after a nationwide British Transport Police appeal.

The court heard Majlat said he entered the UK intending to visit his brother immediately after being released from a Romanian jail last June after serving time for theft and attempted robbery.

In September he was jailed for eight weeks by Horseferry Road magistrates in London for burglary.

Judge Alastair McCallum asked Majlat's defense counsel: "Is it right that he (Majlat] said 'When I was at the railway station I thought I should rape this lady in order to get a place to eat and sleep and learn the English language."

Mark McKone, for Majlat said: "He does say words similar to that." Mr McKone said his client had been sleeping rough for some time.

Judge McCallum said: "That's bizarre ... Is it going to be part of the mitigation that the reason for committing this offence was to get into an English jail so he had somewhere to sleep and learn the language?"

Mr McKone said it would not be a mitigating factor, but added: "It is the defendant's explanation."

Judge McCallum asked the Crown Prosecution Service to investigate Majlat's criminal history in Romania.

And he said he wanted to know if there was any procedures in place to alert customs officers to criminals like Majlat traveling to the UK from Romania under EEC regulations.

Majlat, of no fixed abode, had admitted rape and robbery.

He will be sentenced in April.

Judge McCallum said he was considering imposing a life sentence.

Det Supt Dave Shipperlee, of British Transport Police, said: "This was a violent and sustained attack on a young woman who must have been absolutely terrified.

"Police conducted an intensive investigation to catch the man responsible. I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are extremely rare on the railway network and also to thank everyone who came forward with information to help us in our investigation."
