OregonLive.com reports that recent storms that have blown through the Pacific Northwest since December have uncovered a mysterious shipwreck that has been buried in the sand for years on the Southern Oregon Coast. The 40-foot-wide ship is drawing crowds of curious visitors by the hundreds, but the ship is protected by state and federal laws. No one is permitted to take away pieces of it, but they may take photos if they wish. The 4-mile-long sand road that leads to the wreckage is accessible only by an ATV, a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, or on foot. Researchers have yet to identify the ship, but they speculate that it could have been a barge or a lumber carrier.
